The month February and March are fabulous opportunity to walk in the almond blossom of the Contraviesa. Walking through vineyards and almond groves, the pinks and purples, and scents of the almonds create a heady atmosphere. Our three walks are all fairly leisurely but all different with great views and landscapes to walk through. The weather is usually dry and sunny at this time of the year. The temperatures will be good walking weather around 18oC in the sunshine but at night it will be cold. We will be staying the beautiful Alquiera De Morayma hotel for four nights. Eating in their lovely restaurant and enjoying the roaring fire.

Where do we meet to start the tour?

The meeting point is Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport, so you can fly in and join the group without needing to arrange separate transport to a remote trailhead.

What kind of terrain should I expect?

The route mixes mountain passes, valley floors, and singletrack with rocky sections underfoot. You'll also pass through vineyards and almond groves, which gives the walking real variety from day to day.

Is this tour suitable for someone who hasn't hiked in the Sierra Nevada before?

Yes, the moderate rating and modest elevation gain make it a solid introduction to the region. You don't need prior Sierra Nevada experience, just a baseline of walking fitness.

What should I pack for the mixed terrain?

Sturdy hiking boots are a must given the rocky trails and mountain pass sections. Layers help too, since you'll move between open valley floors and higher ground over the four days.
