Description
Water is the main character on this hike through Gran Paradiso Park. We follow the thundering Noasca waterfall and the wild Noaschetta river along steep trails and old mule tracks through forests into alpine terrain. This is a route where nature carves rock drop by drop. The loop crosses ground shaped entirely by water's patient work. We trace the Noaschetta river upstream, passing sections where centuries of flow have polished the stone smooth. The old mule tracks were built to navigate these water-cut valleys. They still hold to the contours the river dictated. At Rifugio Noaschetta, we stand in a landscape that exists because water and ice never stop moving.
