Description
A circular hike through cool larch forests, dotted with alpine pastures where herds still graze. The route climbs to high terrain studded with glacial lakes in shifting colours, where you get the view — the "Bella-Garda" — over the Ceresole basin. This is moderate walking in the Graian Alps, a day tour that takes you through the layers of this landscape: from the shaded lower valleys where larches filter the light, up through summer grazing grounds, then into the mineral zone where the Bellagarda Lakes sit in their rocky hollows. The Royal Basin spreads below, a sweep of peaks and valley floor that earned its name from royal hunting grounds. You loop back the same day, dropping through the pastures as the afternoon softens.
