Description
Join a guided walk through the Riserva naturale e Sacro Monte di Belmonte, a UNESCO-listed site set among woods, chapels and open hill country in the Alpi Graie Canavese region. This easy, one-day outing follows a loop of 8.5 km with 350 m of elevation gain, reaching a maximum altitude of 730 m, rated T/E (hiking/easy) on the Italian difficulty scale. The terrain moves between forest, rolling hills and marked trails through the nature reserve, offering a varied but accessible day out for most walkers. Along the way, the group stops at a vineyard planted on the reserve's granite slopes, with the owner leading a short visit and explaining how the local soil shapes the wine. At the end of the day there is an optional tasting of the winery's wines, made from grapes grown in this same granite soil. Bring your own packed lunch, as there are no scheduled stops for food along the route. The walk starts at 9:30 am from Piazza F. Pastore in Valperga (TO). Dogs are welcome, up to three per group, kept on lead throughout the hike.
