Description
Loop hike on a balcony trail in Gran Paradiso National Park. After climbing through the shade of the larches, we retrace one of the park rangers' daily routes at a slow pace, taking in the views across to the Levanna peaks and Ceresole Reale lake below. The trail connects Cà Bianca to Casotto Cialme, threading along natural terraces that offer uninterrupted sight lines to the rocky amphitheater of the Levanna massif. We move at the rhythm of observation rather than distance, pausing where the forest opens to frame the lake's blue expanse hundreds of meters beneath us. The path itself follows contours that park staff have walked for decades during wildlife monitoring rounds, worn smooth in places but never manicured. By mid-route, the larch canopy thins and we're fully exposed to the panorama—the kind of sustained, wide-angle view that rewards a moderate effort with minimal technical demand.
