Tour Details

Description

Escape the everyday for two days of snowshoeing in the Hohgant region of the Emmental, one of Switzerland's most preserved mountain ranges. Guided along carefully chosen routes away from the beaten track, you will take the time to slow down, breathe, and enjoy the snow. The meeting point is Kemmeriboden at 10:00 on Saturday 6 February 2027. You will arrive by your own means. On day one we head towards the Hohganthütte, taking a break to learn or refresh your skills with the avalanche transceiver and keeping our eyes open for animal tracks. Late in the afternoon we arrive at the hut, put down our things, discover the place, and prepare the evening meal together with the food carried in our rucksacks, for a lovely group evening. On day two, after breakfast prepared together, we return to our starting point by a wider route that reveals another facet of the region. The night is spent in a dormitory at the unguarded Hohganthütte, an authentic mountain hut where the wood-burning stove crackles. Dinner and breakfast are prepared together; you are welcome to suggest and cook a dish of your own. Lunch is not included. This tour is for hikers who enjoy an active day of snowshoeing: a good level of physical fitness is required. Technical difficulty: 2/5. Physical difficulty: 4/5. The group is limited to 6 people (minimum 4). An avalanche transceiver, probe and shovel are required for this tour. You can rent this equipment from me depending on available stock. Please indicate any food allergies when registering. Snow conditions, weather, and the avalanche situation may require adjustments to the itinerary. Despite all care taken to ensure everyone's safety, mountain activities involve a residual risk which the participant accepts. Appropriate snowshoeing equipment for off-trail excursions is required.
