Snowshoeing in the Vaud Alps for 2 days: off-trail routes, wildlife tracks, an overnight at the Barraud Hut with a wood-burning stove. Small group.
Escape the everyday for two days of snowshoeing in the Vaud Alps, one of Switzerland's most preserved mountain ranges. Guided along carefully chosen routes away from the beaten track, you will take the time to slow down, breathe, and enjoy the snow — while footprints in the snow reveal the discreet presence of local wildlife. The meeting point is the « Gryon, Cergnement » bus stop / car park at 10.30 am on Saturday 13 February 2027. The start is reachable by public transport or by car. On day one we head towards the Barraud Hut, taking a break to learn or refresh your skills with the avalanche transceiver and keeping our eyes open for animal tracks. Late in the afternoon we arrive at the hut, climb to a small col, then return to prepare the evening meal together with the food carried in our rucksacks. On day two, after breakfast, we return to our starting point by a detour via the Pas de Cheville. The night is spent in a dormitory at the unguarded Barraud Hut, an authentic mountain hut where the wood-burning stove crackles. Dinner and breakfast are prepared together; you are welcome to suggest and cook a dish of your own. The food is bought by the guide but spread in each person's bag. Lunch is not included. This tour is for hikers who enjoy an active day of snowshoeing: over two days you will cover about 16 km with 700 m of climbing on the first day, so a good level of physical fitness is required. Technical difficulty: 2/5. Physical difficulty: 4/5. The group is limited to 6 people. An avalanche transceiver, probe and shovel are required for this tour. You can rent this equipment from me depending on available stock. Please indicate any food allergies when registering. Snow conditions, weather, and the avalanche situation may require adjustments to the itinerary. Despite all care taken to ensure everyone's safety, mountain activities involve a residual risk which the participant accepts.
