On the Piedmont side of Gran Paradiso National Park, this moderate circular hike leads through forest paths and rocky trails to Rifugio Jervis and its glacial basin, where meltwater from the Levanne massif collects. The route gains 654 meters of elevation as it winds through the varied terrain of the Orco Valley.
Starting from Borgata Chiapili Inferiore near Ceresole Reale, the trail passes through forested sections before opening onto alpine meadows. The refuge sits in a striking position above the basin, with views across the glacial waters to the peaks beyond.
Lunch is available at the refuge for those who wish to stop. The circular route allows you to return by a different path, taking in more of the valley's varied landscape in a single day.
