I startet mountaineering in the alps but travelled also Turkey, Sweden, Spain, Crete, and above all, Ecuador—my gateway to South America. My second trip to the continent took me to Peru and Bolivia, my dream destinations since youth. later live in Bolivia for over 11 years. However, after founding SuedamerikaTours.de, I quickly relocated my primary residence to the Andean metropolis of La Paz—the ideal base for getting to know the Andes, especially the Cordillera Real, inside and out. What I love most is trekking through largely pristine landscapes that haven't yet been mentioned in any guidebook. Before focusing on the South American Andes, the mountains of Graubünden were my favorite region. Here, I authored a hiking guidebook titled "Einsame Gipfelziele in Graubünden" (Lonely Summits in Graubünden), describing tours to summits that have received little to no previous coverage, yet are all the more rewarding. Later, I wrote the Rother Walking Guide to Bolivia and Patagonia.
