Online marketplaces let you compare individual guides across countries, see their qualification, languages and prices, and book a specific person and date directly.
What to check before you pay
That the qualification is current and matches the terrain and season, not just that a certificate exists.
That the price, group size, inclusions and cancellation terms are written down before payment.
That your money is not sent as an untraceable transfer. Card payment through the platform or the guide's registered business leaves a record.

Made to Hike is a marketplace of independent certified guides across Scotland, the Alps, the Dolomites, the Pyrenees and other European ranges. Guides upload their qualification documents at onboarding and a profile is only published after review. You book the named guide and the date, pay by card, and the balance is settled around the trip.
